I just took a look through the majority of the Resort 2014 collections, and I have to say its not very ‘resort’-like.  The absence of color is palpable, and has been replaced by a palette of black and white, with a few warm neutrals and a soupçon of color tossed in for good measure.

Bottega Veneta sets up the general vibe…there are a lot of splatter prints (paintball anyone?) and abstracts in numerous collections.  This one is indicative of the look.  Note the shoulder interest and skirt fullness…two interesting silhouette elements this season.

Speaking of fullness and splatter prints, here’s Tibi’s take…

Erdem’s collection is particularly strong….black and white softened with lace effects.  Note the lower heeled shoes.  Saw that in many lines, a welcome respite from the sky high heels of late.

Phillip Lim balanced his black and white looks with stronger tones, like this full orange skirt.

Then there’s Chanel, who was channeling The Great Gatsby throughout the collection…

Finally, Reed Krakoff, with a modernist edge and a pop of color…
